Splash Bonding Liquid is based on long oil alkyd resin and is supplied at a low viscosity to give it the penetrating and bonding properties. It is designed for use on friable and loosely bound plasters where it bonds the loose or under-bound materials to a hard impenetrable surface. It is also used on old loosely bound coatings such as distemper. It is compatible with alkyd and emulsion based topcoats.
Vehicle type: Long Oil Alkyd resin.
Solvent: White Spirit
Pigment type: It is non-pigmented
Theoretical coverage: 6 – 8 square metres per litre depending on surface porosity.
Colour range: Clear
Thinner: Supplied Ready For Use.
Drying time: Touch dry: 4 hrs at ambient temperatures and relative humidity.
Hard dry: 16 hours.
Shelf life: Splash Bonding Liquid is stable up to 24 months in sealed containers. Paint should not be left in partially filled containers to avoid formation of skin and subsequent gelling.
Pack size: 5 litres, 1 litre
Application is by brush or spraying.
Compatibility with other paints
Splash Bonding Liquid is compatible with alkyd and emulsion based paints.
New and friable/porous Plaster
The surface is brushed with soft bristle brush and dusted off until all loosely bound materials are no longer present.
Old surface with loose and flaking materials
Previously painted surface with old and loose flaking paint, such as distemper, is thoroughly sanded down with coarse sand paper and dusted off. The sanding should be done until only strongly bound material is left.
Paint should be stored in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight, heat and frost conditions. Tins should be kept tightly sealed to prevent skinning and gelling.
Splash Fencing Aluminium is formulated from a solid hydrocarbon resin and pigmented with leafing aluminium. It dries to a bright aluminium finish. Fencing Aluminium is primarily used on fencing posts as well as other suitably primed metallic and non-metallic surfaces.
Vehicle type: Solid Hydrocarbon resin
Solvent: White spirit
Theoretical coverage: 8 - 10 square metres per litre at DFT 50 microns.
Finish: Bright aluminium
Pack size: 5 litre, 1 litre.
Thinner: Supplied Ready For Use
Drying time: Touch Dry 15 minutes @ 25 degrees Celcius.
Hard dry: 1 hour @ 25 degrees Celcius.
Life span of coating: The dry film of Fencing Aluminium has a life span of up to 24 months when the bright aluminium finish is still visible. However the finish dies away with time due to exposure to weather elements.
Shelf life: The shelf life of Fencing Aluminium is 12 months. Containers of Fencing Aluminium should be kept tightly closed away from moist, alkaline or acidic environment. The Aluminium pigment reacts with both acids and alkalis to release some gases which causes the tins to bulge and/or explode.
Fencing Aluminium is applied by brush or spraying. Turpentine is used to clean brushes after painting.
Compatibility with other paints
Fencing Aluminium is compatible with alkyd-based coatings.
All surfaces must be dry, free of dust, oily materials and loose flakes. Old fencing posts must be de-rusted with a wire brush and the appropriate primer applied.
Fencing Aluminium should be stored at room temperature away from direct sunlight. Acidic and alkaline conditions should be avoided.
It consists of Resin and Hardener mixed together in the ratio 4:1 by volume where they react chemically to form rigid plastic material that is strong, resistant to degradation and bonds extremely well to its substrate.
Properties & Benefits
Its excellent durability makes it ideal for indoor application. Epoxies tend to chalk when used for outdoor application. Suitable for floor coating protection of garages, commercial and industrial flooring. Ensure an economical alternative to tiling in low cost.
Specific Gravity - 1.27
Viscosity at 25 Deg C - 70 - 75 KU when mixed Base and Hardener
Colour - Grey
Finish Gloss - 85 – 100%
Spreading Rate - 7.2 M2/L depending on application equipment and surface profile
Fineness of Grind - 25 Microns
Solids - 40% by volume
Coverage - 5 – 6 M2 per litre per coat
Primer - Not required for well prepared floor and more than one coat application.
Thinner - Ready for use for brush and roller application, but may be thinned with Epoxy Thinners ONLY if required.
Thinning Ratio - Up to 5 % by volume if desired.
Method of Application - Brush and Roller application recommended. For best results two coats should be applied.
Touch Dry - 4 hours
Hard Dry - 16 hours. Maximum resistance properties for Epoxy Floor Coating developed after 7 days.
Surface Preparation - Ensure floor to be painted is completely dry, minimum 21 days under ambient temperature conditions for new floors. Remove laitance with dilute Hydrochloric Acid, rinse thoroughly with water using hard broom and allow floor to dry. Ensure all oily and grease contamination is removed with appropriate solvent.
Shelf Life - 2 years minimum for unmixed Base and Hardener.
NOTE: Epoxy Floor coating should not be applied under humid conditions as the dry film forms white spots due to reaction of Amine Hardener with moisture in a phenomenon called Moisture Blush
Splash Bitumen Paint is a solvent-based general purpose black paint that is made from a special grade of solid bitumen. The bitumen, supplied in solid form, is melted and dissolved in an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent. Splash Bitumen paint is used for water-proofing and protecting steelwork against corrosion. It is also used for painting concrete and potable water tanks.
Vehicle type: Bitumen
Solvent: Paraffin/White Spirit
Finish: High gloss
Pigment type: N/A
Colour range: Brownish black.
Drying time: surface dry: 10 minutes at 25 degrees Celcius
Hard dry: 4 hours
Coverage: 5 - 6 square metres per litre at DFT 50 microns.
Pack size: 5 litre, 1 litre
Life span of coating: Bitumen paint coating has a lifespan of up to 6 years on a properly prepared substrate.
Shelf life: 2 years in a properly filled container. Half filled container results in the development of a skin at the surface and gradual thickening of the product. Viscosity is dependent on temperature, with low temperatures increasing the viscosity and high temperatures lowering the viscosity.
Bitumen Paint is applied by brush, dipping, or spraying.
Compatibility with other paints
Paints based on strong solvents are not recommended to be applied on top of Bitumen paint as the bitumen dissolves in them causing discolouration of the topcoat.
All surfaces should be clean, free of oil, grease, dirt, rust, or any loose flakes. For rough surfaces, the sandpaper of the right grit or mechanical abrading should be used to obtain a smooth finish onto which paint can easily adhere.
Paint should be stored at room temperature away from direct sunlight or freezing conditions. Tins of paint should be kept full to avoid skinning and gelling.
Splash Paints & Plastics Chalkboard is an alkyd-based paint that dries to a matt finish. It is available in black and green colours. It provides ease of removal of chalk markings using a suitable chalkboard duster.
Controlled pigment grinding during manufacture results in a uniform matt finish which ensures minimum chalk dust during writing on boards made from various materials such as cement plaster and timber boards.
Splash Paints & Plastics Chalkboard paint is easy to apply using a brush, spraying, or roller and the quick-drying characteristic ensures the school board is readily available after painting thereby causing minimum disruptions to lessons.
Splash Paints & Plastics Chalkboard paint is made ready for use but can be thinned with toluene or xylene when the need arises.
Splash Paints & Plastics continues to manufacture a durable chalkboard paint to cater for establishments which cannot afford the financial resources to acquire the latest synthetic boards and the associated marking pens.
